Amanda wrote to see if I had the lyrics for "Cool." I couldn't find them on the web so scanned them from the "Hits" CD.

Here is the guitar tab for Danger.
Danger and M-Train are archetypical Pylon songs. The bass and drum steam on without one extra note. The guitar sets the mood and texture. The vocal humanizes. The lyrics are there for the sound and for the fun but not for the message or meaning. This isn't singer-songwriter stuff. It's rock!
These songs demonstrate Pylon's elegance. They don't play one extra note; there is no urgency to fill up spaces. They are huge, incredibly memorable songs made of very few moving parts. Most bands want to play every instrument at every moment. When that works, it's impressive and wonderful. Pylon's talent if getting it done with less.
One of my favorite bands is the Jesus Lizard. To my ears the Jesus Lizard makes the most elegant hard music. Pylon makes the most elegant Pylon music.

This is the one. Pylon at their no-extra-baggage best. Woo - Woo!

More riffs than an average Pylon song but I'm still amazed at how few notes they actually they need to get the song just right. Once again lot's of space. Maybe the keyboard is necessary to fatten things up on the recording, but maybe not.
The bass riff has been playing in my head for more than 20 years. Good to find it again and to find it better than I remembered.
Time for M-Train!

Here are the guitar tabs for "Volume" and "Cool." Well, I haven't finished Cool yet but I'll be back.
Several Pylon songs have been playing in my head since about 1980. The band wasn't together very long so there haven't been many chances to see them in the past 25 years. From time to time I'd thought about buying an album or CD but there aren't any in the music store.
In the spring of 2005 I noticed that Pylon was playing AthFest - The Athens, GA Music and Arts Festival. I personally prefer to travel no more than 5 miles to see a band but I did take note.
On July 7, 2005 The Earl featured Pylon as part of a 6th anniversary celebration. I had to be there and what a great show it was.
I realized that I've had 4 Pylon songs playing in my head all that time but only knew the title of "M-Train." So I ordered "Hits" and now I'm going to do my small part to support the band and help folks enjoy the songs.
No telling if or when they'll play again within my 5 mile music radius. Soon, I hope.

Copy the tab images to MS Word:
I have one printer that will do it and one that won't.
